40145 was used for The East Lancs Firebrand tour run by The Class Forty Preservation Society
. The locomotive worked from Bury to Stratford-upon-Avon, a total of almost x00 miles for the one day trip. Locomotive 57313 was used as tail-gunner and back-up purposes throughout the tour.
The stock was not reversed at Stratford-upon-Avon and for the return leg was propelled as far as Warwick using the Class 57. At this point the stock was reversed with 40145 leading for the return to Manchester.
