50021
Rodney worked its last train in December 1989 and was withdrawn in April 1990 due to power unit damage, thereby becoming the 12th Class 50 locomotive to be withdrawn after over 21 years of active service. Engine hours stood at 6,814.
After its withdrawal, 50021 was stored at the
Mid Hants Railway. Its first permanent home in preservation was at the
Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway until it was relocated to the
Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway in 1995. It spent several years here before being subsequently moved to the
Birmingham Railway Museum at Tyseley in 2002.
In 2014, 50026 was bought by a private individual and relocated to Eastleigh. It is currently undergoing a thorough service and restoration.
