It's with mixed emotions that 2012 draws to a close. On the one hand the year saw the return of 50026 Indomitable to an operational condition after 22 years. There was also the welcome move of 50027 Lion back to the Mid-Hants Railway where it will see far more use. On the other hand however, 50044 Exeter whilst looking spectacular externally, requires attention to its power unit costing tens of thousands of pounds.
This being the case, I urge readers to join the The Fifty Fund or make a donation. Without these funds we will be unable to continue mainline running with 50044, which will in turn reduce the opportunities for our other mainline locomotive, 50049 Defiance to operate on the mainline.
