50008
Thunderer at different stages during The Saltburn Alternative tour run for
The Branch Line Society by
Hanson and Hall Rail Services Solutions. The tour was revised from one whose original destination was Whitby and research suggests that this was the first time that a member of the class had worked to the end of the line.
The locomotive worked in a top-'n'-tail formation with locomotive 37418
An Comuun Gaidhealach which started the tour from Derby and travelled to Sheffield via Alfreton. 50008 then took charge from Sheffield to the final destination of Saltburn. For the return leg of the trip, 37418 took the tour to Shildon whereupon 50008 took over for the return to Derby. Total distance covered by 50008 was 278 miles for the one-day trip.
