50017 Royal Oak attended the April 2019 diesel gala at the Great Central Railway. It was the first time that this locomotive had hauled a passenger service at this particular preserved railway since its change in ownership and relocation a few months earlier.

The locomotive provided turns from Loughborough to Leicester and the return.
