The Class 50 Alliance Ltd, in association with the Severn Valley Railway, run driver experience courses using one of their locomotives on a number of days each year.

The second course in the 2016 calendar, for which the author was a delegate, ran using locomotive 50049 Defiance hauling a consist of seven carriages from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and the return.

Completion of this course marked a milestone for the author since it meant that I had finally managed to drive all four of the locomotives operated by The Class 50 Alliance Ltd.
