. The locomotive worked from Chester to Gloucester via Ludlow, Hereford and Abergavenny before being replaced by GWR locomotive 6024 King Edward 1
for the steam-hauled part of the tour.
The destination for the tour was Minehead, which was reached by running over the preserved-line tracks of the West Somerset Railway
. 50049 was used as tail-gunner for train heating purposes throughout the tour and took over from the steam locomotive at Bishops Lydeard for the return journey to Chester via the Severn Tunnel.
