50049
Defiance at different stages during The West Somerset Wanderer tour run by
Pathfinder Tours. The locomotive worked from Chester to Gloucester via Ludlow, Hereford and Abergavenny before being replaced by GWR locomotive 6024
King Edward 1 for the steam-hauled part of the tour.
The destination for the tour was Minehead, which was reached by running over the preserved-line tracks of the
West Somerset Railway. 50049 was used as tail-gunner for train heating purposes throughout the tour and took over from the steam locomotive at Bishops Lydeard for the return journey to Chester via the Severn Tunnel.
