On occasions it is necessary to move non-mainline certified locomotives to and from engineering works or between events. In such cases locomotives have to be moved by road using a transporter.
In the case of 50040 Leviathan (later renamed Centurion) however, the reason for its move was a more poignant event. In 2008, after more than 7 years stored outside at the Coventry Railway Centre as little more than a rotting shell, it finally met its fate and was transported by road to Sims scrap yard in Halesowen.
